Arriving in Athens

We arrived at our hotel only to find out that Flight Attendants aren’t the only group that have to wait for rooms in Europe. Making the most of the almost 3 hour sit we multi-tasked and had a little lunch.

Arriving in Athens, we were all a little surprised at the amount of graffiti on the walls. Some was “art”, others not so much.

Since we were in danger of literally “shopping til we dropped” we stopped for a pick me up in the Plaka district of Athens. Just delightful!

“Men of Athens, I notice that you are religious in every way, for as I was walking along, I saw your many shrines…
The “shrines” were in the background as he spoke. And yep! Long winded Paul kept it short. (Acts 17:16-33)

“Barbarian” was a word, that in ancient times meant you were a person that couldn’t speak the language. I’ll bet your a barbarian too!

Cruising to Mykonos

Out of all of us girls, only ONE had ever been on a cruise before. Come, join the fun and sail with the “Sassy Seven” to the Island of Mykonos!

If you look across the bay you will see “little Venice.” It’s named that for the proximity of the shops and restaurants to the water.

Quick! We need to hurry if we are going to get to the windmills before the sun goes down. Mykonos is known as the “island of windmills.” People lived in them and if you look closely you’ll see the thatched roof!

Crete and Santorini

We may not look quite the same as the girls from part one and two of the movie, but we have just as much fun! Join us as we not only explore Santorini, but the first civilization of Europe!

Welcome to Crete! “I brought Israel out of Egypt, but I also brought the Philistines from Crete . . .” Amos 9:7

We head to the site of the very first civilization of Europe. In 1099 BC the Minoans built the first palace. This is the oldest throne in Europe. The king had another one in his room. Unfortunately the Minoans were destroyed by a fire in 13 AD. One way we know that they left in a hurry was that the women left behind there jewelry. No woman in their right mind does that!
